Metabognostics introduces a new sweat sampling device – MetaboTip – for human
biomonitoring to empower healthcare providers and practitioners in diagnosing complex
diseases in an individualized approach.
Metabotip’s analysis of fingertip sweat offers an expansive view of individual lifestyle factors. By identifying both exogenous compounds and endogenously produced metabolites, it creates a unique molecular signature for each person.
Detecting Bioactive Compounds:
Substance Exposure: The presence of cigarette smoke, pharmaceuticals, and environmental toxins can also be detected, revealing exposure to these substances through their unique imprints on sweat composition.
Health and Lifestyle Indicators:
This approach not only highlights individual compounds but also provides a comprehensive picture of lifestyle and environmental influences. By capturing these distinct molecular signatures, Metabotip offers valuable insights into personal health and the impact of various bioactive agents.
Simple, Quick, and Completely Non-Invasive:
Getting started with our metabolic health service is as easy as it gets.
Here’s how:
1. Prepare for Sampling: Wash your hands with lukewarm water (Do not use soap!)
and gently dry them with a one-way paper towel. Wait for one minute.
2. Collect Your Sample:
- Remove the sampling unit from the container.
- Place it between the tips of your thumb and index finger.
- Apply pressure for one minute, squeezing the unit about 10 times.
- Return the sampling unit to the container and securely close the lid.
Contact MetaboGnostics for transport and analysis. You will receive a fast and accurate analysis report.
- Low cost
- Metabotip delivers an extensive range of molecular information at a fraction of the
costs compared to other techniques.
- Non-Invasive
- The sampling procedure is completely non-invasive, eliminating risks and
discomfort during sample collection. No specialized medical or paramedical
personnel is required.
- Individual Metabolic Parameters
- Metabotip collects metabolic parameters of individuals and allows for personalized
diagnostics.
- Convenient Sampling
- Sweat collection from fingertips is simple, fast and does not require specialized
training.
- No Sweat Stimulation
- Unlike methods that require induced sweating, Metabotip analyzes natural,
unstimulated sweat, thereby avoiding potential biases.
- Comprehensive Profiling
- Unlike methods that focus on a few pre-selected metabolites, Metabotip provides a
holistic view by detecting over 600 metabolites in a single sample, covering both
endogenous and exogenous compounds.
- Time Series Analysis
- Metabotip supports dynamic analysis, allowing for the study of metabolic
responses to various challenges—such as physical exercise, dietary changes, toxin
exposure, or stress. It enables frequent sampling to track changes over time and
identify individual disorders, disease predispositions and prevention strategies.
- Enhanced Sensitivity
- Metabotip metabolite analysis is more sensitive than blood or saliva tests due to
minimal matrix effects in sweat, resulting in precise measurements with lower
coefficients of variation.
- Minimal Sample volume
- Metabotip uses tiny amounts of sweat (about 100nL) for detailed analysis,
achieving robust results even with these small sample volumes. The technique is
sensitive enough to detect metabolites in the sub-picogram range.
Sweat is a surprisingly rich source for determining metabolic parameters and emerges as
an ideal biofluid for diagnosis. Sweat is constantly secreted by dedicated glands on the
skin surface all over the body. However, these glands are particularly frequent on the
palms of the hand and the fingertips. The sweat composition is highly dynamic and
responsive to physiological/pathological processes.
We will set up a sampling plan with you perfectly aligned to the research questions to be
answered.
MetaboTip is currently intended exclusively for research purposes and is not available for
use in diagnostic procedures.
Available to:
- Research Institutions
- Universities
- Pharma / Biotech companies
- R&D Laboratories
- Professional users for research purposes
No, the samples can be transported at room/outside (if not too hot) temperatures.
Important Note
It’s important to note that metabotyping using sweat from the fingertip involves a wet sampling procedure, meaning that it does not capture a fingerprint and therefore cannot be used for direct identification of individuals. In line with standard clinical practice, samples are generally pseudonymized, with identification keys stored separately to ensure privacy and confidentiality.
